Cape Lefkatas
Cape Lefkatas (or Kavos of Kira) is situated in the southern region of Lefkada. It is, perhaps, the most impressive attraction of the island. The wild beauty of the landscape causes awe even nowadays. The white steep, vertical cliffs and the deep blue Ionian Sea create an unparalleled experience. You can visit the lighthouse "Doucato", which was built there in 1890.
In ancient times there was a temple dedicated to Apollo. According to tradition, the lyric poet Sappho committed suicide by falling on the sharp white rocks when she learned that her beloved Phaon rejected her love.
