The church of Santa Maura is located in the homonymous castle just before the floating bridge that connects Lefkada with the mainland of Aitoloakarnania. For a long time, especially during the Ottoman rule, Lefkada called Santa Maura because of the castle and the church.

The church of Agia Kyriaki, is one of the most picturesque churches. It is located opposite the cosmopolitan Nidri, dipped in the green. The visit to the chapel can be done with small rented boats.
The St. Nicholas Church is located in the city center. It is a very old church, built in 1867 and has been tested by major earthquakes. It was the richest church of the city with impressive entrances, windows in baroque style, an imposing temple and icons that are works of art.
The chapel of Agios Donatos is situated on a 900 meters altitude, approximately 2 kilometers away from Eglouvi village. The residents of the island dedicated the chapel to the Epirus’ Bishop Donatos. His memory is celebrated on August 7.
